What is CA Title 13? California Title 13 means that the warning light has been submitted to the California Highway Patrol (their designated lab) for testing and have been approved for use per the California Administrative Code Title 13 Chapter 2 Article 22. Some lights don’t have the approval due to never having been submitted for testing. How about SAE? SAE stands for the “Society of Automobile Engineers”. They approve warning lights submitted to them in classes. Class 1: Request right of way - minimum level for use on authorized emergency vehicles. Class 2: Warns of hazard - minimum level for use on authorized maintenance & service vehicles. Class 3: Non highway vehicles for use on forklifts, private snow plow, mowers, etc... You can always exceed your class but should not go below your class. |
